E-RIHS France National Day - 4 October 2018

publié le

We are pleased to invite you the next National Day of E-RIHS, the French heritage science research infrastructure. The event will take place on 4 October 2018 at the Claude Lévi-Strauss auditorium of the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac.

The E-RIHS infrastructure seeks to respond to the experimental problems posed by the knowledge and conservation of heritage materials. These materials (paints, ceramics, glass, metals, fossils, lithic materials, graphic documents, etc.) are often extremely heterogeneous, chemically complex and multi-scale.

Set up by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Culture, the CNRS, Inria, the MNHN and the FSP, E-RIHS France will support the advanced scientific study of cultural and natural heritage materials by deploying resources to study, interpret, diagnose and preserve objects, monuments and heritage sites. Through a concerted procedure, E-RIHS will provide integrated access to state-of-the-art instruments and technologies on large instruments and mobile platforms, data infrastructures and physical archives, and associated competences.

On the occasion of this National Day, the project partners will review the development of E-RIHS. During various round tables, they will consolidate the answers proposed by the French scientific community to the essential questions of the scientific project of the infrastructure, its data management and exploitation access policies and its training activities, at national, European and international levels.

The E-RIHS National Day is dedicated to the personnel of laboratories studying material from archaeology, art history, conservation sciences and palaeontology, providers of access to instruments and data, as well as institutional and political actors. Access is free upon reservation.

Save from now on the date of October 4th, a detailed program and a registration page will be available soon.

Coordinators of E-RIHS France : Loïc Bertrand (IPANEMA) and Isabelle Pallot-Frossard (C2RMF)

Registered in 2016 on the French and European roadmaps of research infrastructures, E-RIHS is in full development. The E-RIHS PP project, funded by the European Commission for a period of three years, prepares the scientific strategy, legal structure, governance and budget for the future European infrastructure (creation planned for 2022). On 16 March 2017, the memorandum of understanding of E-RIHS France was officially signed by the French partners. Working groups have then made progress on access procedures, data management, training activities and budget of E-RIHS France.

Event labelled in the framework of the European year for Cultural Heritage 2018.
