The third and last radioprotection hutch of PUMA has been constructed. The assembly had been particularly difficult as this hutch is the first at SOLEIL to be constructed inside the outside zone of the synchrotron building. A special slab has been constructed to support its mass and to protect it from vibrations.
When the users will arrive at PUMA in 2015, this hutch, called the “experimental hutch”, will be the place where they will spend the most of their time. It will host the beamline goniometer, the focusing optics and the detectors. A cutting-edge air conditioning will be installed to protect the experiments, which will target micronic resolutions, from thermal and mechanical instabilities. The control room for the experiments will be installed just next to the experimental hutch.
