The characteristic heterogeneity of ancient materials, due to their history, requires the analysis of corpus of samples in imaging in order to extract meaningful information. Ancient materials are systems that are difficult to model. IPANEMA methodological research aims to build analytical strategies appropriate to these materials.
Two axes are developed : the development of imaging methods (ISMA), and the multivariate data analysis of ancient materials (XIAMA). This methodological research is fostered by needs for the study of ancient materials and their characteristics.
It benefits from the particular instrumental context of the laboratories located on the Saclay plateau.
