09.2013 Official opening of IPANEMA

The IPANEMA research platform (CNRS / Ministry of Culture and Communication), dedicated to the advanced study of materials from archaeology, palaeontology, past environments and cultural heritage, will be launched September 12th, 2013 by Geneviève Fioraso, Minister of Higher Education and Research, and Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the Ile-de-France, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, CNRS, the Smithsonian Institution and the SOLEIL synchrotron.

Construction and equipment of IPANEMA are funded equally by the French State and Region Ile-de-France, and include a new building adjacent to the SOLEIL synchrotron and a synchrotron beamline optimised for ancient materials, PUMA.

Program of the ceremony

The inauguration of IPANEMA begins at 14:30, at the site of the SOLEIL synchrotron, on the Saclay Plateau :

  • 14.30 : Welcome speech from the scientific partners
  • 15:30 : Ribbon cutting and speeches from institutional partners
  • 16h45 : Visit of the new laboratory (excluding for the official delegation)
