Presentation
IPANEMA is a joint unit of the CNRS, the Ministry of Culture, the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and the National Museum of Natural History (UAR 3461). IPANEMA is located on the SOLEIL Synchrotron site within the University of Paris-Saclay.
It is a laboratory for the development of advanced methods for characterising materials used in archaeology, palaeoenvironments, palaeontology and cultural heritage, and for supporting synchrotron research with external users hosted on the platform. To this end, IPANEMA develops and provides a range of techniques for studying artefacts and samples, preparing samples and statistically analysing the data sets collected.
IPANEMA’s infrastructure was built by the Île-de-France Region and its initial equipment was funded by the French government as part of the 2007-2013 CPER (State-Region Partnership Contract) and the Equipex PATRIMEX programme.
