Measurement campaign at the monastère royal de Brou

From June 18th to 20th, a measurement campaign was held at the monastère royal de Brou around Joan Mitchell’s triptych (1969) and Judit Reigl’s Ecriture en masse (1963). The campaign, organized by Chloë Coustet, Mathieu Thoury (IPANEMA) and Pauline Hélou-de La Grandière was part of the PhD thesis MODERN on the softening of certain mid-20th century oil paintings. In addition to the photoluminescence imaging developed in our laboratory, gloss imaging measurements were carried out by Lionel Simonot (Institut P’, Poitiers) and Mathieu Hébert (Laboratoire Hubert Curien, Saint-Etienne) as well as infrared spectroscopy with LAMS’ portable instrumentation loaned by Laurence de Viguerie.

We would like to thank Magali Briat-Philippe, head of the Heritage Department, the museum’s technical management team, and all those we had the pleasure of meeting for their hospitality, availability and precious assistance.
