« Ingénieure de recherche au Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), je travaille au laboratoire IPANEMA (Institut Photonique d’Analyse Non-destructive Européen des matériaux Anciens) et sur la ligne de lumière PUMA du synchrotron SOLEIL. Mes intérêts et activités de recherche se concentrent sur l’étude des matériaux anciens, en particulier les biomatériaux anciens (par exemple l’ivoire et le corail), les matériaux picturaux et les verres historiques. Le but de mes recherches est d’identifier les matériaux, les phénomènes de vieillissement, la conservation des œuvres d’art et les techniques de fabrication au moyen d’une variété de techniques analytiques, en particulier les méthodes basées sur les rayons X (fluorescence, diffraction, absorption). Récemment, j’ai également travaillé sur les changements induits par les radiations (faisceaux d’ions) dans des matériaux sensibles (parchemin). Au laboratoire IPANEMA, je suis responsable de l’instrument ‘Source X’, utilisé pour l’analyse combinée DRX et FX (optimisation, adaptation, protocoles analytiques, support aux utilisateurs, etc.). »

Katharina est titulaire d’un doctorat en chimie analytique / archéométrie.
